A semi-monthly series of flash fiction horror pieces selected through themed open calls. Each call is inspired by the symbolic meaning of a randomly drawn tarot card, inviting authors to interpret and explore its imagery through short fiction.
My Role:
Reviewed submissions and collaborated with a co-editor to select winning entries for publication.
Managed author communications, including acceptances, rejections, and copy-edit discussions.
Facilitated contracts, payments, and production logistics for each installment.
Edited and formatted winning stories for online publication.
Spindle House // Jun 2023 and Oct 2023 // approx. 80-100 pages
A two-issue literary horror journal featuring flash fiction, short stories, and poetry from emerging and established writers. The Deeps launched with Issue 1 in June 2023 and Issue 2 in October 2023, showcasing contributions from over twenty authors across both editions.
My Role:
Managed the full editorial process, from submission review and author correspondence to copy editing and publication.
Coordinated contracts, payments, and production logistics to ensure professional, timely releases.
Edited and formatted both issues for triplicate publication: print, eBook, and online.
Designed the covers and developed the journal’s visual identity and layout standards.
Wrote editors’ prefaces and determined content warnings to ensure clarity and reader care.

A chapbook of literary poetry and political criticism by author Bruce Burrows, originally written in 1995 and published posthumously in 2022 as a tribute to the author.
My Role:
Designed and formatted the chapbook, establishing its visual identity through font selection, paper choices, and cover design.
Prepared print-ready files, coordinated production with a local printer, and reviewed proofs for accuracy and quality.
Hand-bound a limited print run of 50 copies, ensuring craftsmanship and consistency across the edition.
EGSC, Chico State English Department // April 2022 // approx. 120 pages
An annual publication showcasing creative and scholarly writing from students who presented at the English Graduate Student Council Symposium. The 2022 issue featured works across fiction, poetry, and literary scholarship.
My Role:
Served as one of four editors reviewing and preparing student submissions for publication.
Edited and formatted accepted pieces to meet author specifications and style guidelines.
Structured and formatted the final document for print distribution.
Watershed Review // Nov 2017
A biannual online journal publishing literary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Watershed Review is a student-run publication associated with Chico State’s Literary Editing and Publishing (LEAP) certificate program.
My Role:
Served as a poetry editor on the fall 2017 issue, evaluating and selecting submissions for publication.
Participated in editorial discussions to determine final acceptances and rejections in alignment with the journal’s aesthetic and standards.
Composed personalized, professional rejection letters recognizing strong submissions and expressing appreciation for contributors’ work.
Formatted accepted poems in HTML for online publication.
